Headaches can involve much more than what you feel in your head. Tension and restricted movement through the neck, shoulders, upper back, jaw, posture, stress, prolonged sitting, and previous injuries can all influence how you feel.
My approach to headache relief in Austin looks at the bigger picture. Rather than simply focusing on where you feel the pain, I look at your neck, shoulders, upper back, movement, posture, and other areas that may be contributing. The goal is to identify patterns that affect your symptoms and build a practical approach around what actually helps you feel and move better.
WHY HEADACHES CAN BE DIFFICULT TO SOLVE
Headache symptoms don’t always tell us exactly what is contributing to the problem. Discomfort around the forehead, temples, behind the eyes, or base of the skull can be influenced by tension and sensitivity in the neck, shoulders, upper back, jaw, and surrounding areas.
That’s why repeatedly working only where you feel the headache may provide temporary relief without changing the larger pattern. I look at how the surrounding areas move and respond, then use a combination of targeted hands-on work, movement, stretching, and self-care strategies based on what I find.
MY APPROACH TO HEADACHE RELIEF IN AUSTIN
I don’t use the same routine for every person seeking headache relief in Austin. I look at where you’re restricted, what seems to aggravate your symptoms, and how your neck, shoulders, upper back, jaw, posture, and movement may be contributing.
A session may combine targeted hands-on work, stretching, movement, positioning, and self-care strategies. The goal isn’t simply to make a headache feel better temporarily. It’s to identify useful changes that help you move more comfortably and give you practical ways to manage the problem outside of a session.
HEADACHES, NECK TENSION, AND THE BIGGER PICTURE
In my experience, headaches often make more sense when I look beyond the head itself. Neck and shoulder tension, restricted movement, posture, jaw tension, and sensitivity around the base of the skull can all be worth exploring.
I don’t assume that these factors are the cause of every headache. Instead, I look for changes: if working with a particular area, movement, or position changes how you feel, that gives us useful information about what may be contributing to your symptoms.
WHAT A HEADACHE RELIEF SESSION MAY INCLUDE
Depending on what I find, we may work with the neck, shoulders, upper back, jaw, base of the skull, and other areas that may influence how you feel. Sessions can include hands-on pain relief work, assisted stretching, movement, positioning, and techniques designed to reduce restriction and improve comfort.
I also teach you what you can do on your own. That may include simple stretches, movement strategies, postural changes, or self-care techniques you can use between sessions. My goal is not to make you dependent on appointments—it’s to help you understand patterns that affect your symptoms and have more options for managing them.
WHAT CAN CONTRIBUTE TO HEADACHES?
Headaches can have many different contributing factors. Stress, sleep, hydration, medications, illness, vision issues, and other medical factors can matter, while neck and shoulder tension, jaw tension, prolonged sitting, restricted movement, and previous injuries may also influence how you feel.
That’s why I don’t assume every headache has the same cause. I look at the factors that fall within the scope of the work I provide and pay attention to how your symptoms respond. If something suggests your headaches need medical evaluation rather than hands-on care, I’ll encourage you to seek appropriate medical attention.
IS THIS RIGHT FOR YOUR HEADACHES?
This approach may be a good fit if you’ve been dealing with recurring headaches along with neck or shoulder tension, restricted movement, posture-related discomfort, jaw tension, or symptoms that seem to change when those areas are addressed.
I work with people who want to explore what may be contributing to their symptoms and take an active role in improving how they feel and move. If you’re unsure whether your headaches are appropriate for this type of work, you’re welcome to contact me before booking.
